More travel than a white van
Riding the big mountains is a nomadic existence. Catching up with friends in far-flung car parks. Surveying those trails you're not even sure are rideable. Nailing the ones you know are. All your shiny new bling getting scraped, battered and bruised. Well that’s life—how it should always be, and the Nomad exists for it.
The Nomad is arguably the most abused bike in the Santa Cruz line up. Every Nomad has a story to tell. But each and every Nomad we've carefully built at Santa Cruz, well they keep coming back for more. It's not Stockholm Syndrome, it's called free bearing replacements, a lower link grease port, sealed bearings for all pivots and shuttle guards. There’s no need to scrap a frame; a no-nonsense bearing service can make one last a lifetime. So that's the Santa Cruz stance on sustainability at least, and it's why our carbon fiber doesn’t just mean as light as a feather, it also means tough-as-hell. But when all this is backed up by our lifetime warranty and crash replacement support, you know you’re on the right trail.
On road trips there’s no time for puzzling and that's why we chose 27.5 wheels to cover the widest variety of riding styles and rider sizes. When peeling your Santa Cruz out of the van at a sweet new spot, your only question should be “Is this a full face or a half lid kinda ride?” The 77-degree seat angle and 64-degree head angle puts you in the perfect position when winding up for the big drop in. Meanwhile, regardless of the frame size, proportional chainstay lengths mean that your handling isn't compromised.
If you like your travel big—and when we say big travel, we're not talking about your Transporter's odometer—no we're talking about 170mm of 38mm diameter fork plus 170mm of VPP rear suspension compatible, with both coil and air shocks. These details are completed by a tidy mud flap to protect your rear shock, cable routing inside the frame and swingarm, and rubberised DT protectors to bat away rock and root strikes.
So all you van-lifers unite! The Nomad is the bike you need never worry about, all summer long. It’s a shame we can't say the same for the locked public toilets and parking tickets.
