The new FR541 represents the benchmark in alloy rims from DT Swiss Hand-Built onto Industry Nine's range-topping Hydra hub with six double-row pawls for fast and secure engagement. Available in 27.5, 29er, Mullet, boost, non-boost and any driver you need! We even tape them for tubeless and can add valves if you want, so you only need to pop your tyres on and shred them!

THE DETAIL

DT Swiss FR541 Rim

After the success of DT Swiss' legendary EX511 rim and seeing it run by lots of downhill riders (even though it isn't strictly a DH rim), DT Swiss decided they needed to develop a DH-rated rim with the 30mm inner width of the EX511 and XM481 and have given us the FR541.

Taking on board lessons from the renowned EX 511 and incorporating new features never seen on a DT rim, the FR 541 is lighter, stronger, and has industry-leading puncture resistance.

Ultimately, the new bead hook profile widens and blunts the area that slams into the tyre during a heavy impact, increasing the force required to split the tyre by 17%, allowing you to go that bit harder.

A complete reworking of the rim's profile has reduced the weight penalty to just 35 grams over the EX511 whilst improving upon the FR 560s already superb strength-to-weight ratio.

Includes multiple high-quality decal options to customise your wheels to suit your style, and DT's bead-blasted black finish remains the toughest.

You will receive your wheels in our specially designed wheel box that will get them to you in perfect condition; they will be ready to ride straight from the box, so just fit your tyre discs and cassette. If you are getting discs, cassettes or tyres from us, we can fit these for you so you are even closer to being out on the trails.

SPECIFICATIONS

Industry Nine Hydra Classic hubs are the heart of your wheelset; literally, everything revolves around them. Every Classic mountain hub is made in the machine shop of I9's Asheville, NC. From turning and milling bar stock 7075-T6 aluminium for shells, axles and endcaps, wire EDM cutting A2 tool steel for pawls and driverings, to their in-house anodization lab, every step of design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly is done on premises to our exacting standards.

Hydra Classic mountain hubs have features every rider will appreciate, such as revolutionary 0.52° engagement, generously low weights and an intuitive layout that can be serviced without proprietary tools. Our range boasts standard options regarding axle fit, spoke hole drillings, disc rotor mounting, freehub bodies, and colours.

Spokes :

Sapim Race - 2/1.8/2 - Race spokes are double-butted and are used for the strongest and stiffest wheel builds. Handles abrasion from trail debris. Weight (64 pcs x 260 mm) 363 g

Sapim D-Light - 2/1.65/2 - Light, strong, economical. The D-Lights are double-butted and are the best choice for most riders. Does not stretch and twist poorly like 2/1.5/2mm spokes. They are more elastic and lighter than Race spokes. Weight: (64 pcs x 260 mm) 307 g

Sapim CX-Ray - 2/2.3/0.9/2 - The lightest and most resilient mountain bike spokes available. CX Rays are bladed, so they have aerodynamic properties and the best results in fatigue testing of any spoke. Strong enough for competitive use. Weight: (64 pcs x 260 mm) 272 g

Nipples:

DT Swiss FR541 rims are designed to work with particular-shaped DT Swiss nipples called Squorx, so we only use suitable ones to keep their warranty valid. These have extended spoke heads with spline fitting inside the rim for increased strength and ease of truing with a unique tool.
2.0mm Silver Alloy DT Swiss Squorx - These are supplied with the rims and are fine but are susceptible to corrosion.
2.0mm Black Alloy Dt Swiaa Squorx - a black anodised alloy version of the above - greatly improved long-term corrosion resistance. 2.0mm Black Brass DT Swiss Squorx Prolock - brass for ultimate strength and durability. Remember that brass doesn't take coatings well, so it can look worn after building due to surface contact with spoke keys.

Sapim Double Square Alloy - Our wheel builders' favourite top-quality alloy nipple with excellent durability and increased head length for strength and ease of trueing. Removal of rounded or broken nipples is more straightforward, too, using an internal spoke head.

All wheels for Enduro and DH are built in 3 cross lacing patterns with 32 holes. Wheels for XC and Trail riding are built 3 Cross in 27.5" and 2 Cross in 29" for additional lateral stiffness; if you want a different pattern, please let us know in the comments section at checkout.
