Ibis Ripley SL

The Ripley SL is "Race Bred & Trail Fed." It targets riders who find modern trail bikes too bulky and XC bikes too fragile. Hand-laid in Ibis’s proprietary solar-powered factory, the frame hits an incredible 5lb weight (including shock). It maintains the legendary efficiency of the dw-link suspension while introducing modern "life-quality" features like the STOW internal storage system.

Handcrafted in California

Moving manufacturing to California has allowed Ibis to refine the carbon layup to an obsessive degree. The "SL" designation (Super Light) isn't just a marketing tag; the frame is optimized for high-modulus carbon to ensure that it climbs like a rocket while retaining the "pop" and playfulness that defined the original Ripley V1 and V4.

Performance Insight: Why "SL" over the Ripley V5?

The Ripley V5 has evolved into a 130mm/140mm bike that is heavier and more downhill-focused. The Ripley SL exists for the rider who misses the "zippy" feel of a lightweight 29er. It is roughly 1.5--2lbs lighter than a standard Ripley V5 frame. If your rides involve long alpine climbs, 50km marathon loops, or technical flow trails, the Ripley SL is the "5-pound rocket" you’ve been waiting for.
