Industry Nine Hydra 2 Fuse Wheelset
The Industry Nine Hydra 2 Fuse is the latest evolution in I9's carbon wheel line, moving away from proprietary spokes to a robust J-bend steel spoke construction. This "Classic" configuration is intentionally chosen for the Fuse to provide the durability needed for the current generation of full-power E-MTBs and aggressive "long-travel" enduro bikes.
The standout feature is the Hydra 2 hub, which increases the engagement points to a staggering 870 P.O.E. (0.41-degrees). This is achieved through a redesigned 145-tooth drive ring and a 6-pawl phased system. To handle this speed, I9 has overhauled the internals with a 65% thicker axle and larger 6903 bearings, making it their most reliable high-torque hub to date.
The very latest iteration of the Hydra 2 Fuse is indeed a "Classic" build, meaning it uses a traditional flanged hubshell designed specifically for J-bend steel spokes. This move ensures maximum serviceability and the specific "give" required for high-torque E-MTB and heavy enduro use, while debuting the new Hydra 2 internals.
Customsiation through Industry Nine's Anolab:
Simply go to the Anolab here and build your preferred wheelset. Add it to theIndustry Nine cart (don't worry about price etc, we are just after the code their builder generates) get their custom code such as in the picture below. Pop this code into the comments box when ordering from us and we can make sure you get what you are after. Any problems get in touch and we can do it for you.
J-Bend Steel Spokes: Uses standard, high-quality steel spokes (typically Sapim Race or similar) for easy repairs and a familiar, damped ride quality.
Hydra 2 Drive System: Delivers near-instantaneous power transfer with significantly reduced coasting drag (up to 60% less than the original Hydra).
Fuse Carbon Rims: Manufactured in collaboration with We Are One, these rims feature a shallow 18.5mm profile for radial compliance and "telepathic" trail feedback.
Reinforced Pawl Pockets: Larger 5.5mm pockets prevent the hub shell from "ovalising" under the high torque of E-bike motors.
Updated Sealing: Features a new labyrinth channel and full-contact radial lip seals to thrive in the worst UK riding conditions.
