Industry Nine Solix Hubs - Pair

Industry Nine Solix Hubs - Pair

Industry Nine Solix Hubs

The Solix represents a complete rethink of Industry Nine’s internals. To combat the drag often associated with high-engagement hubs, Solix uses a continuously-phased five-pawl system and a 121-tooth drive ring. This results in 605 points of engagement (0.59-Degrees), providing an almost instantaneous response while being significantly quieter and smoother-rolling than the Hydra.

Solix M vs. Solix SL/G

  • Solix M (Mountain): Designed for XC and Trail. These are Centerlock and Boost only, featuring a slightly more robust shell to handle off-road torque.

  • Solix SL/G (Road & Gravel): Focused on drop-bar disciplines. These hubs use a more aerodynamic, tapered shell and are available in standard road spacings (12x100mm / 12x142mm).

The Industry Nine Solix series is a new platform that bridges the gap between the ultra-high engagement of the Hydra and the efficiency required for Road, Gravel, and XC racing.

While the Hydra is the "gravity king," the Solix is the "efficiency expert," offering a massive 63g weight saving over a Hydra 2 hubset and a 60% reduction in mechanical drag.

Our Wheelbuilder's Opinion:

Choose the Solix if you are building an XC race bike, a fast gravel rig, or a high-end road bike. While the Hydra is better for technical "trials-style" mountain biking where you need 0.41-degree engagement for pedal-kicks, the Solix is superior for sustained pedalling. It rolls noticeably faster and the 60g weight saving is exactly where you want it on a lightweight race build.

THE DETAIL

  • Continuously Phased Drive: 5 pawls engage one-by-one to provide 0.59-degrees engagement, nearly matching the Hydra's speed but with less friction.

  • Scalloped Hub Flanges: The unique "wavy" flange design isn't just for looks; it removes unnecessary material to save weight while strengthening the spoke holes.

  • Unified Bearing Sizes: Uses the same bearing size on both the drive and non-drive sides to distribute loads more evenly, extending the hub's lifespan.

  • Reduced Noise: The lower pawl count and revised leaf springs result in a higher-pitched, less intrusive "buzz" compared to the legendary Hydra "swarm of bees."

  • Improved Sealing: New full-contact radial lip seals and endcap debris shields keep the internals pristine during long-distance adventure rides.
