The Shimano LG500 chain is the vital link in the Linkglide system. While traditional chains are designed for speed and weight reduction, the LG500 is engineered for mass and surface area to resist the "stretch" and wear caused by the high power output of modern mid-drive motors.

In testing, Linkglide chains have been shown to be up to 300% more durable than standard Hyperglide chains in high-load scenarios. This is achieved through a specific plate geometry and heat-treatment process that allows the chain to sit deeper and more securely on the thicker teeth of Linkglide cassettes.
