Ibis Oso HD | Bosch CX Gen 5 | 165mm

The Oso HD is designed to "shuttle downhill both ways." The 2026 frame features a radical modular dropout system, allowing you to fine-tune the chainstay length and switch between Full 29er and Mullet (MX) wheel setups. By moving to a 600Wh battery, Ibis has lowered the centre of gravity and shaved nearly 1.3kg off the total system weight compared to the original 750Wh Oso, resulting in a significantly more playful ride.

EVO Opinion:

The Ibis Oso HD is the long-travel, "shuttle-killer" flagship of Ibis's newly modular e-bike platform. Moving away from the single-travel design of the original Oso, the 2026 chassis is now a unified platform that can be converted between HD (165mm), TR (150mm), and S (130mm) configurations by swapping the shock and clevis.

The Oso HD specifically is built for big-mountain enduro, pairing a 180mm fork with the new Bosch CX Gen 5 motor and a lighter, lower-slung battery system for improved agility over the first-generation bike.

The "Bell Curve" Fit: Ibis has introduced a fifth size, Extra-Medium (XM), because 80% of their riders fall between 5'5" and 6'0". This allows for a much more precise reach and seat tube height for the majority of riders.
Dropper Insertion: The new frame design features a straight seat tube, allowing for significantly deeper dropper post insertion. You can now run a 180-210mm post even on the mid-sized frames.
Chainstay Logic: Small and Medium frames ship as Mullet (MX) with 440mm stays, while XM, Large, and XL ship as Full 29er with 455mm stays, ensuring balanced handling for all heights.

Bosch CX Gen 5 Motor: The latest drive unit is quieter and smoother than the Gen 4. It features refined sensors for technical climbing and a "Top-Secret" torque update that provides peak power in the most demanding high-cadence sections.
Optimised 600Wh Battery: The removable internal battery is positioned lower in the downtube. For all-day epics, the frame is officially PowerMore 250Wh compatible, allowing for a total capacity of 850Wh.
Clean Cockpit: Features the Bosch Kiox 400c display and the minimalist Mini Remote, keeping the bars free of the "spaceship" controllers found on earlier models.
