Ibis Ripley SL

The Ripley SL is the answer for riders who find 140mm trail bikes too sluggish but 100mm XC bikes too twitchy. By combining 117mm of rear travel with a 130mm fork, I9 and Ibis have created a "5-pound rocket" that is Race Bred & Trail Fed. It is one of the few bikes on the market that can genuinely be built under 10.3kg (22.6 lbs) while still featuring internal storage and a 66° head angle.

Ibis has brought production home to their Santa Cruz backyard. Utilizing a 100% solar-powered factory, the Ripley SL features a sophisticated carbon layup that eliminates excess resin and overlap, achieving a 5lb (2.27kg) frame weight including the rear shock. This is "boutique" engineering available at a production scale.

The Ibis Ripley SL is the definitive "Made in the USA" lightweight trail weapon. While the standard Ripley has leaned into more aggressive territory, the SL (Super Light) is a return to form for those who value instantaneous acceleration and surgical handling.

Produced in Ibis’s 100% solar-powered facility in California, it represents the absolute cutting edge of their carbon engineering—resulting in a frame that is roughly 1kg lighter than the current Ripley V5.

Performance Insight: Why "SL" over the Ripley V5?

The Ripley SL is not just a lighter Ripley V5; it is a more precise instrument. By keeping the travel to 117mm (this is the same vertical axle travel as the fork so they actually match), Ibis has preserved the "snap" and lateral stiffness that allows the bike to change direction instantly. It is optimized for Fox Factory Float SL suspension (lockout and remote compatible), making it the perfect choice for riders who want to tackle technical marathon events or simply out-climb everyone else on the local loop.
