Industry Nine Solix Gravel R (GRCX) Wheelset
The Solix Gravel R is the refined racer of the family. It is designed for riders who want the instant response of the Solix hub platform but need a wheel that won't beat them up during a 200km event. By using a slightly lower-profile rim than the Gravel X, the Gravel R offers increased vertical compliance, allowing the wheel to "track" better over loose surfaces and small bumps.
The heart of this wheelset is the Solix G hub, which features the same 605 points of engagement (0.59-degrees) found in the mountain bike range but optimized for drop-bar drivetrains. The latest "R" series focuses heavily on reducing system friction; Industry Nine has achieved a 60% reduction in mechanical drag, ensuring that every second of coasting results in less speed loss than any previous I9 gravel wheel.
The Industry Nine Solix Gravel R (often marketed as the Solix G GRCX in its alloy form or the Solix SL UL250 for racing) is the "Race-Ready" specialist in the gravel lineup. While the "Gravel X" is built for bikepacking and survival, the Gravel R is designed for the sharp end of the race—prioritising weight and compliance to help you maintain speed over long, vibrating sections of unpaved road
Customsiation through Industry Nine's Anolab:
Because this is a System wheel, you have access to the full Ano Lab suite. Black hub and spokes is the base price default, adding colours incurs upgrade costs. Simply go to the Anolab here and build your preferred wheelset. Add it to theIndustry Nine cart and it will tell you what Level of customisation it is (level1,2 or 3 - see below).
Get thei i9 custom code from the basket as in the picture below. Pop this code into the comments box when ordering from us and we can make sure you get what you are after. Any problems get in touch and we can do it for you.
System Wheels have 3 levels of customisation:
Level 1 - Up to 8 spokes of a different colour
Level 2 - Any colour hub (instead of standard black) and as many matching spokes as you like (i.e any mix of black and the colour) that matches the hubshell
Level 3 - Any mix of colour hub and spokes you like all the way up to rainbow pattern!
Our Wheelbuilders opinion:
the decision often comes down to Gravel R vs. Gravel X? The decision between the two depends on your mission:
Choose the Gravel R if you are racing. It is lighter, shallower, and more compliant. It’s designed to be fast, comfortable, and easy to spin up to speed on varied terrain.
Choose the Gravel X if you are exploring. The Gravel X has a slightly more robust rim profile (19mm depth vs 18mm) and is built to withstand the heavier loads of bikepacking and more aggressive trail riding.
Solix G Hub System: Near-instant pickup for technical gravel climbs and "snappy" acceleration out of corners.
GRCX Lightweight Rim: A shallower profile designed specifically to be compliant, reducing rider fatigue on high-vibration surfaces.
Direct-Thread Integration: Features 24 one-piece aluminium spokes that thread directly into the hub, creating a stiff lateral structure for precise cornering.
Modern Width: A 24.5mm internal width provides a stable base for 35mm to 45mm tyres, keeping them from "folding" under hard cornering.
Class-Leading Weight: At 1400g, it challenges many carbon competitors for the title of the lightest gravel-specific alloy wheelset.
