Industry Nine Hydra 2 Wanderer Wheelset
The Hydra 2 Wanderer is designed for the "two-wheeled explorer" where the journey is more important than the destination. Built on the System chassis with direct-thread aluminium spokes, it offers the "telepathic" control of the Hydra 2 platform but with a carbon layup from We Are One that is tuned to be significantly more compliant. This reduces hand and body fatigue over multiple days of riding on rugged, unpaved terrain.
Bikepacking Specific Carbon
The Wanderer rim features a 27mm internal width, optimized for the high-volume tyres (2.1"--2.6") typically used on adventure rigs. Unlike an Enduro rim, which is designed to be stiff and impact-resistant, the Wanderer rim is engineered to flex slightly under vertical loads. This "built-in suspension" helps the wheel track better on loose surfaces and provides a smoother ride when the bike is weighted down with bags and gear.

Our Wheelbuilder's Opinion:
If you are strictly trail riding, the Trail Carbon is lighter and "zippier." However, if your rides involve 8+ hours in the saddle or multi-day expeditions, the Wanderer is superior. The slightly narrower rim profile and specialized carbon layup are designed to dissipate vibration rather than reflect it, making it one of the most "comfortable" carbon wheels ever produced.
