Reserve 30|SL AL - DT Swiss 350 DEG / DF Wheelset
The Reserve 30|SL AL is the performance aluminium counterpart to the carbon SL series. While it is built from high-strength 6069 alloy rather than carbon fibre, it retains the signature Reserve ride quality: high vertical compliance for traction and extreme durability.
By pairing this rim with the DT Swiss 350 DEG or the DEG DF system, you create a wheelset that offers premium mechanical performance and anti-kickback tuning at a significantly lower price point than the carbon equivalents.
The 30|SL AL is designed for XC, Trail, and All-Mountain riding. It features a 30mm internal width, which is the industry standard for supporting modern 2.2" to 2.5" tyres. Unlike many "stiff" alloy wheels, the SL AL has a shallow 20mm depth, allowing the rim to deflect slightly under impact—improving grip and reducing the risk of pinch flats.

DT 350 DEG: Features the oversized 90T Ratchet DEG system, providing a fast 4-degree engagement. This hub is specifically designed for technical climbing where immediate power transfer is essential.

DT 350 DEG DF (Degrees of Freedom): This hub utilises a specialised "gap-toothed" ratchet and thread ring. It allows the rider to select between 0-degree, 10-degree, or 20-degree of free movement before the hub engages. This mechanically isolates the drivetrain from suspension growth, ensuring your pedals don't "kick back" during deep compressions on rough descents.
DEG vs. DEG DF Selection
When choosing between these two hub options for the Reserve 30|SL AL rims:

Select the Standard DEG if your bike has a low-pivot or high-virtual pivot design that already has very low pedal kickback. You will benefit from the instant 4-degree engagement and the crisp sound of the 90T ratchet.

Select the DEG DF if your bike has significant chain growth (common on many modern enduro and high-pivot bikes). Setting the hub to 10-degree or 20-degree of float will noticeably smooth out the suspension feel on technical descents by preventing the chain from "tugging" at your feet.
