Industry Nine Solix Trail System Wheelset
The Solix Trail is designed for the rider who wants a fast-climbing, responsive wheel but refuses to baby their gear. While the Solix XC is a pure race tool, the SolixTrail uses a wider, reinforced alloy rim that is happy to be "rowdy" on technical descents. By combining 24 straight-pull aluminium spokes with the low-drag Solix internals, I9 has created a wheel that accelerates like a carbon wheel but retains the reliability of high-grade aluminium.
The TR285 Trail rim features I9's Hollow Bead Wall technology. This design creates a much wider surface area at the top of the rim wall, which acts like a "cushion" during hard impacts. This significantly reduces the chances of cutting your tyre casing (pinch flatting) when you bottom out against a rock—a critical feature for a wheelset this light.
The Industry Nine Solix Trail s the most versatile alloy wheelset in the Solix lineup. It sits between the ultralight XC race wheels and the heavier-duty Hydra series, offering a "downcountry" or aggressive trail feel. It uses the higher-efficiency Solix M hub platform but laces it to a rim that can handle real-world mountain bike abuse.
Customsiation through Industry Nine's Anolab:
Because this is a System wheel, you have access to the full Ano Lab suite. Black hub and spokes is the base price default, adding colours incurs upgrade costs. Simply go to the Anolab here and build your preferred wheelset. Add it to theIndustry Nine cart and it will tell you what Level of customisation it is (level1,2 or 3 - see below).
Get thei i9 custom code from the basket as in the picture below. Pop this code into the comments box when ordering from us and we can make sure you get what you are after. Any problems get in touch and we can do it for you.
System Wheels have 3 levels of customisation:
Level 1 - Up to 8 spokes of a different colour
Level 2 - Any colour hub (instead of standard black) and as many matching spokes as you like (i.e any mix of black and the colour) that matches the hubshell
Level 3 - Any mix of colour hub and spokes you like all the way up to rainbow pattern!
Our Wheelbuilders opinion:
Choose the Solix Trail if you value pedalling efficiency and weight savings for long days in the saddle. It is about 140g lighter than the Hydra 2 Trail and rolls more freely when you stop pedalling. However, because it only uses 24 spokes (compared to the Hydra’s 32), the Solix Trail is designed for "precise" riders rather than those who tend to smash through rock gardens with reckless abandon.
Solix M Hub System: Offers 0.59-degree engagement (605 P.O.E.) through a 5-pawl phased system, balanced for both speed and longevity.
Mechanical Efficiency: A 60% reduction in drag compared to previous generations, meaning you carry more speed through flat or rolling sections.
TR285 Alloy Rim: A 28.5mm internal width provides the perfect support for modern trail tyres up to 2.5".
System Chassis: Direct-thread, one-piece aluminium spokes eliminate nipples at the rim, creating a stiffer and more responsive steering feel.
Lightweight Performance: At 1535g, it is nearly as light as many carbon trail wheelsets while being significantly more affordable.
