Industry Nine Hydra 2 Triad Wheelset
The Industry Nine Hydra 2 Triad is a high-performance carbon wheelset that prioritises ride quality and serviceability. By lacing the latest Hydra 2 Classic hubs to We Are One Convergence rims with standard steel spokes, Industry Nine has created a wheel that offers the perfect balance of "snap" and "damping."
The "Triad" rim is the 30mm internal width model from the Convergence series. It features a unique, wavy rim profile that aligns the carbon layup with the direction of the spoke pull. This reduces stress on the rim bed and allows for better radial compliance, meaning the wheel can absorb impacts and trail chatter more effectively than a traditional "flat" carbon rim.
The Industry Nine Hydra 2 Triad is the premier "Classic" carbon wheelset in the I9 range. It is defined by its use of traditional J-bend steel spokes, making it the practical choice for riders who want elite carbon performance without the proprietary spoke requirements of the "System" range.

Our Wheelbuilders Opinion:
While aluminium spokes are stiffer, many pro-level riders prefer the Hydra 2 Triad because steel spokes offer more "damped" feedback. On high-speed, chatter-filled trails, the steel spokes help the rim track the ground more effectively by providing a small amount of vertical give. This makes the Triad one of the most comfortable carbon wheelsets on the market.
Hydra 2 Drive System: The new 145-tooth drive ring and 6-pawl phased system deliver a near-instant 0.41-degrees engagement (870 P.O.E.).
Serviceable J-Bend Spokes: Built with 32 standard steel J-bend spokes, allowing for easy repairs at any local bike shop.
Low Coasting Drag: Refined labyrinth seals and pawl geometry provide a 60% reduction in drag compared to the original Hydra.
Reinforced Internals: Features a 65% thicker axle and larger 6903 bearings to improve durability under high-torque loads.
Limited Lifetime Warranty: The Canadian-made rims are backed by a lifetime warranty for the original owner against ride-related impacts.
