The Reserve 57|64 Turbulent Aero (Standard) is the workhorse aero wheelset of Reserve's range. While the "SL" version is an exotic, lightweight project for professional climbers, the Standard 57|64 is built for the everyday racer. It swaps the carbon spokes and Tune hubs for the legendary reliability of DT Swiss hubs and steel Sapim spokes.
The 57|64 is the result of Reserve’s "Turbulent Aero" research, which uses mapped wind data to create a rim profile that remains stable when the wind isn't hitting you at a perfect angle. The 57mm front rim is significantly blunted to reduce the "torque" felt at the handlebars during gusts, while the 64mm rear rim acts as a stabilizing rudder, providing a significant "sail effect" thrust.
It is designed to be the fastest possible wheelset that you can still ride in the windiest UK coastal conditions without losing confidence in your steering.
Unlike the SL version, this wheelset uses industry-standard DT Swiss hubs and Sapim CX-Ray steel spokes. This makes it the better choice for riders who want a "set-and-forget" wheelset that can be serviced at any local bike shop. The steel spokes also provide a slightly more damped, comfortable ride quality on rougher tarmac compared to the ultra-stiff carbon spokes of the SL.
